Customer service is the most important product that every business sells. Realizing this, the Tourism Association of New Mexico partnered with Wells Fargo and HospiTotally to offer training seminars all throughout New Mexico.

Los Alamos was lucky to offer this to  local businesses and their employees on November 15th. There were 76 people in attendance from these local businesses: Pajarito Brewpub and Grill, Fusion Multisport, Home Run Pizza,
Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation, Plateau Property Management, Los Alamos and White
Rock Visitor Centers, Zia Credit Union, CB Fox, Alterations and More Inc., La Dolce Vita Coaching, and the LANL
Foundation.

Mr. John Garcia was an excellent presenter and discussed the principles of service excellence b providing his own experiences and engaging the audience by asking for their examples.

Mr. Garcia stated that the key to providing exceptional customer service is to determine what the customer wants and putting forth the effort to give that to the customer.

The keys to doing this are focusing on being friendly, knowledgeable, flexible, efficient, fun and creative and valuing the customers. It is no secret that if someone receives great customer service, they will mostly go back to that business. Now if someone is treated terribly, they will not hesitate to tell everyone of the horrible experience they had. This is why the 10 essentials of service happiness are appearance, attitude, friendliness, impression, responsibility, commitment, team thinking, communication, service pledge and lastly, customer service excellence.

By focusing on these things, we can improve customer service not only for
the local community but visitors too. With the holiday season over, we all can continue being kind and friendly
year round to make this the best place  to live and visit.
